About myaupairbook.com
The idea for myaupairbook.com stems from my experience both as an au pair in my late teens/early twenties and, then, subsequently when my own children arrived, in hosting au pairs in our family.
Being part of "au pair world" is a wonderful way, I feel, of getting to know and appreciate other's cultures, countries and languages. Being an au pair or hosting an au pair can enrich our lives and can teach us to be more tolerant. It is a "two way street" where the relationship between the host family and the au pair is build on trust and respect.
In the days when I was an au pair, Internet was not commonly used and becoming an au pair or getting an au pair traditionally happened via fee paying agencies or word-of-mouth. Once suitable candidates were matched, a letter or two and an occasional phone call were exchanged. Much has changed since then thanks to technology and on-line social networking phenomenon. Today myaupairbook.com is here to help you to avoid high placement fees and to also avoid the often lengthy wait for suitable candidates to be presented to you by agencies.
For prospective Au Pairs: myaupairbook.com allows you to - here and now - consider a great choice of wonderful families and to pick the one that suits you best.
For prospective Host Families: myaupairbook.com allows you to find a great young woman or a young man to be your next au pair.
myaupairbook.com gives both au pairs and families the opportunity to ask and respond to each others questions fast and it allows you to get to know each others expectations before deciding to enter into an arrangement. A point to bear in mind is that a genuine au pair or a genuine host family will never ask you for money prior to the start of a placement.
My aim for myaupairbook.com is not to be the biggest on-line au pair search engine. My aim is for it to be an exciting and safe place for families and au pairs to connect with each other and to share experiences. I am positive that you will find the right fit.
I am looking forward to hearing from you about your experience with the "au pair world", about this site, or about anything you would like to share with me and others in this au pair on-line neighbourhood. Our forum and my blog are here for you!
Search, communicate, enjoy!
