What is an Au Pair?

An au pair (plural: au pairs) is a foreign-national domestic assistant working for, and living as part of, a host family. Typically, au pairs take on a share of the family's responsibility for child care as well as some housework, and receive a small monetary allowance for personal use.

The title comes from the French term au pair, meaning "on a par" or "equal to", indicating that the relationship is intended to be one of equals: the au pair is intended to become a member of the family, albeit a temporary one, rather than a domestic servant. In the best circumstances, both parties benefit from learning about the other's culture and will remain on good terms long after the au pair has left the family.

How do I change my email address or password?

You can change your email address on the "Edit Profile" page. After you've made your changes, click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page to save.

To change you password go to the "Change Password" page, enter your old password and then enter your new password. Make sure then to click on the "Change" button.

What is the purpose behind the chat window, how do i get benefit from it?

This application is a fast way of communicating to other members of the site who are online. Its lists all the members who are premium members, in your hot list and online. When you send a message, the recipient receives it instantly and can reply back to you.

When someone sends me an email message, where does the the message go and how do I respond?

When a member sends you a message, it goes straight into your onsite message Inbox. We then send an email to your personal email address to let you know that it's there.

To read the note, simply login to the site and go to your Inbox. If you decide to write back, simply click "reply", write your own note and send away. Your note will go straight into the member's onsite Inbox, and we'll let them know it's there with an email to their personal email address.

All communications with other members stay onsite so that you never have to give out any personal information until you feel completely ready.

How do I edit my profile?

To update your profile, click "Edit Profile" in Member Panel menu. Be sure to save your changes at the bottom of the screen when you're done.

Try to put your best foot forward with at least one photo. The photo is key since most people feel more comfortable writing to members they can see. Try to stay positive and honest in your message to other members.

How do I change my Explorer Map location?

To update your location, click "Edit Profile" in Member Panel menu. Under your address details you will see your current coordinates (Latitude & Longitude values). You can pin point your correct coordinates by visiting www.getlatlon.com. Move the map to the location you want, zoom in if you want to be extra accurate, then copy the latitude and longitude values that display at the end of the screen. Paste these values into the appropriate box on your Edit Profile page. Be sure to save your changes at the bottom of the screen when you're done.
